Babyletto Kiwi Glider

The fact that I even bought a glider is amazing.  I had zero plans to buy a glider. There just wasn't really space for it and I was pretty set on the fact that I was going to be buying the Rocker Mama. If you are unfamiliar, it is sort of like a portable rocking chair. (See pic below).

I still love the idea of the rocker mama and won't rule out that I won't get it, but I did end up getting a glider and here's why..

The more I read about baby essentials, the more I saw women's undying love for their gliders. I mean they had nothing bad to say at all. In fact, what truly convinced me was a mom who explained that she slept in the rocker for the first week or two after baby arrived. So I began my hunt for the perfect glider. I wanted something GreenGuard Certified, which limits your options, but not as much as you would think! Pottery barn had some beautiful options that also had an ottoman. The ottoman though was taking up room I didn't have to begin with and the cost was so high. Not to mention just shipping it would have been an extra $150 or something crazy like that!
So I ended up at Crate and Barrel with the BabyLetto Kiwi Glider (who offered free shipping). They also sell it at Amazon and Buy Buy Baby... but coupons don't apply and it was the same price, so buy wherever you want it!  What I loved about the Babyletto Kiwi glider was several things really:
  • GREENGUARD Gold Certified: It was important to me that this glider be non-toxic. I would be sitting in it a lot and why add toxins that would off gas into our living room where I would be with baby?!
  • Push Button: With the push of a button I would be reclining! How amazing did that sound?
  • USB charger: I can charge my phone and nurse baby?! Also amazing.
  • Fantastic Reviews: Like I said, people raved about their glider and this one especially was highly applauded by moms everywhere. I was hard pressed to find a bad review!
I was sold. Was it about $400 more than I planned on spending, sure, but it was also a piece of furniture that I would be using for years to come, not just temporarily for a newborn. I love things with dual purpose and long lasting use and value.

set up

The Babyletto Kiwi glider came in pieces in a humongous box. Not something a pregnant woman can carry inside on her own, that's for sure. It came in basically two pieces that slid together. It wasn't easy figuring out exactly how they slid together though. I will be posting a video that shows you how to slide it on since we got a little stuck. Then you slide the wings onto the sides, which was much easier, plug it in and boom, instant glider.

my thoughts

Hands down best purchase so far! I think I probably feel this way because baby isn't here yet and this baby item I have personally gotten a lot of use from already. It is comfortable to sleep in and I have already taken several naps. The push button glide is nice and quiet as well. It didn't look as bulky as I thought it would considering the size was larger than the chair I used to keep in my living room. I wish it would have fit in baby's room but there just isn't room so the living room it is! I'll update on how it works out with baby once he arrives!

update!:

So i've been using the Babyletto Kiwi glider for several months now post baby and I have to say it's still so great! In fact, people who come over and sit in the chair fall in love with it! I even had baby-less friends come and stay and they ended up buying one for their home! So you don't need a baby to love this chair! I would say as a suggestion to have the buttons on the outside. Baby kicks and sometimes touches the buttons or the USB cable.
